The film is set in 2029 and centres on a single, high-stakes interrogation, with Chris Pratt confined to the Mercy Capital Court as an AI judge investigates a crime.
Content Creation & On-Set Support
Working closely with Amazon MGM, Dimension’s content team crafted the Mercy Capital Court environment in Unreal Engine. On set at Amazon MGM Studios in Culver City, the environment was deployed on an LED virtual production stage, primarily for delivery of authentic lighting during principal photography, accurate eyelines and reflections for actors, and for framing up shots.
Motion Design and Motion Graphics - Key Storytelling Elements
In post-production, the team delivered hundreds of MGFX shots in close collaboration with the director and VFX partner DNEG. The interface was designed as a narrative device. Drawing on visual cues from contemporary law enforcement systems and projecting them into a near-future aesthetic, the team developed camera animation that delivered both clarity and tension.
Camera movement reflects the protagonist’s emotional state, shifting from controlled and fluid to agitated and unstable as tension builds, and focusing on key details for the audience.
A USD-based pipeline enabled reusable camera and layout setups across shot types, accelerating delivery while maintaining visual continuity across complex sequences.
Mercy showcases a production model where realtime and post work as one, giving filmmakers greater control, speed, and creative consistency from script to screen.
